The traditional leather industry has long been associated with deforestation, animal cruelty, and heavy chemical use. We asked ourselves a simple but powerful question:
“Can leather be beautiful, functional, and sustainable — all at once?”
This question sparked the birth of Velar India. Starting from humble experiments with natural fibers and food-waste materials, we developed innovative leather alternatives that retain the elegance of traditional leather while being kinder to our planet.
Today, we are proud to be among India’s leading innovators in biodegradable, PU-free, and cruelty-free vegan leathers. Our flagship materials include:
Tomato Leather – made with tomato by-products, cotton, and biodegradable biopolymers. Soft, durable, and fully landfill-degradable.
